Frist waxes

Post by Doug » Fri Jan 29, 2010 10:32 am

I just recieved my rotury yesterday. Here are my first 2 waxes. the frist one didn't cut all the way threw but know what i did wrong. It is still castable. The 2nd is a MQ remount. The customer wanted 6 prongs on each stone and stuller didn't have it. It's prefect!

Well done!

I have found on many projects I can build a file and cast the item I need instead of spending hours looking for a certain size. Time is money.

Doug

I think you got it!! great looking first projects. I would suggest changing your wax to ferris purple or stuller purple. Looks like you are using kerr blue we have found that you get what we have called fuzzies.

Also make sure you are measuring for your thinest spot on your ring tube after you size for the surfacing process. Then check extend z depth when you set up the roughing pass.

great work looking forward to seeing more piecees

Hi Doug,

Great job on those waxes, Well done!!

@Jeff, FWIW all of the new "Kerr" waxes are now made & supplied by Matt.
It was the old "Kerr" branded wax tubes that produced that peach fuzz effect, those wax tubes were made by Freeman.
Freeman has now released their own brand of wax tubes onto the market, AFAIK it's the same peach fuzz formula.

regards Colin

Thanks Colin

after the fuzzy situation, I never have kerr another chance
just stuck with mostly ferris.
