Post by p schmidt » Fri Apr 08, 2005 9:30 am

gee thanks guys...here's my mills 1 year birthday photo!

notes of interest:
a) dust box made from original roland box !
b)melted front left corner from using halogen lamp while watching mill ..i now use florecent magnifier lamp
c)magnet on lower front of mill to hold wrench and my 3mm surfacing bit
d)safty overide installed.. so i don't have to leave the cover on when milling
e) pencil on side is attached to a string with a washer on the end of it running through a hole in the box ..can never find a pen when i need one
f)and lastly mill is chucked up with tubing collet and ball burr ready to go!
thanks guys!

crosses

Post by p schmidt » Mon Apr 18, 2005 7:34 pm

here's a couple crosses for 3mm princesses. i'll cut the wax in a day or two. not sure how to screen capture in virtual modelo if someone knows how go ahead if you would! create a tool path with .2 mm end mill and view in virtual modelo to see end product.

Post by Colin Creed » Mon Apr 18, 2005 10:33 pm

Hi Pat,

Here's the renderings for you, hope this is how you wanted them?
I did the render for them in MP4, then screen captured them with IrfanView.

Well done Pat, the designs look really good!!
Looking forward to seeing the finished pieces.

man that's close

Post by p schmidt » Wed Apr 20, 2005 4:41 pm

just finished my wax 4hrs... cut with .68mm long reach end mill (rough and finish) x/y speed 10mm per sec.-z downspeed 8mm per sec.-.6mm depth cut per pass -x direction tool path ..next time i'll use contour pass.
wax model was cut with .2mm wax base left on bottom to be removed man that's close!.also the cross was designed so that the second level of stones are to be undercut .4mm into the side walls .i'll hollow the underside next.
...nothing for a customer just playing around
also the wax was held onto the milling plate with superglue just a few drops popped right off with a exacto knife
should have had a manicure before taking the picture!
