I too noticed the small circles did you let the mill complete it's course? I know that sometimes I would look at the progress on a piece and stop the mill thinking it was "done enough" only to find out it still had one more final pass that would have removed all small blemishes.. also check your too...

thanks guys, i designed the front "s" first then copied shape for the front of the back side keeping in mind the hinges they were the real test to see if i could get it right. then i saved my file and used it for the inside i mirrored the shapes then adjusted everything for the inside cuts including...

here's a experiment to see how my flip over "L" stop works. i finally perfected it !!! the sample locket was milled on both sides including the tube hinge i added the pin just for the picture.. this is just a rough experiment i did'nt clean the edges up as nicely as i would have for a final product....

working on a jig so you can flip the piece over and still be centered... still a little off for right now (just an experimental piece)
this is the front and back view of the same wax (draft finish)..on a piece like this you would just cut the four tabs to release your model then finish the edges.

actually i remade the wax a little thicker and cut at a higher speed this time. i used .45 end mill (harbor freight) set at ...xy 15mm/per sec...z down 8mm per...cut in at .5mm per pass ..total time 1.75 hours.as you can see from the pics. i milled it to .1mm of the table. i put masking tape down on...

that depends.. in this case i already cut a new, one as i wanted to adjust a few things..however i've been known to do it both ways or should i say all three ways ..cut new wax (which takes longer)... cast then repair ...or repair the wax then cast ...there are no rules just make it look right!! tha...

here's a wax (pendant) for a pear shaped green tourmaline 11.6 x 5.6 can't find a mounting for that size have to make it! will be in white gold set with 1 pointers around the edge... cut with .45 mm end burr in 3d engrave (just for fun to see how 3d engrave works trouble is it cuts the whole relief ...
